Fissure Sealants + Fillings

Wondering what a fissure sealant is?

Let’s explain that for you here!

“Fissure sealants are a treatment for teeth with deep grooves, usually arising from the eruption of permanent molars in children, a development that occurs between the ages of 5 to 13 years.”

Effective as a treatment for grooves in teeth that retain food and plaque, fissure sealants are bonded coatings that can prevent future decay and make teeth cleaning easier. If your child is having braces fitted, we may recommend fissure sealants for this reason.

In most cases, fissure sealants are a straightforward and pain-free treatment, however if you have any concerns with the procedure, Dr Nimesh and his team will work with you to implement a solution you are comfortable with.

You can be confident we will take time to assess your situation individually and in the context of your long term needs.

Fillings don’t need to be a source of pain and anxiety

There are now more options for patients seeking pain-free and gentle solutions.

“So you realise you need a filling (or a few). Making a choice about the most effective filling option will be driven by what will preserve your tooth structure best.”

While amalgam or metal fillings were used in the past, we now rely on more advanced and aesthetically appealing solutions. Bonded white fillings, which appear as tooth colour, are the best option for preserving vital tooth structure that would deteriorate otherwise.

Experiencing toothache or sensitivity? Or just want to replace your amalgam fillings?
Receive your own personalised treatment plan to get you on track.

Whether you’re looking to replace unsightly and leaky amalgam fillings or you’re dealing with a new filling, we’re able to work with you to make the process as pain-free and manageable as possible.

Nimesh did a wonderful job! I went to Timeless Smiles to straighten my teeth using Invisalign. You will be seeing your dentist every 2nd month, so make sure you have a good one! Not only did we fix my teeth, but we were able to laugh along the way. Highly recommend for Invisalign, TMJ issues or just a checkup, they do it all there!

We have been seeing Dr Nimesh Practice for 7 years now. We took our toddler for his first visit last week and the experience was so beautiful. He was explained each step and our toddler is already looking forward to his next visit 😁

The best dentist I’ve been to. Dr Patel offered an in depth consultation, a friendly, non-judgemental environment and I felt very comfortable in his and his staff’s hands. They worked to offer the best price and the whole process was very easy. Thanks so much!

Great experience at Timeless Smiles, for the whole family. Thank you for looking after us! Would recommend to anyone. Personally I had 4 fillings, easy, pain free and look great, you wouldn't know they were there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What about onlays and inlays?

Onlays and inlays are a good option for patients who want to restore both the function and look of the broken and decayed tooth.
Onlays and inlays are made from porcelain, and while they take longer to implement than regular fillings, the end result is far superior to metal fillings. A legitimate and more cost effective alternative to crowns, inlays and onlays make tooth restoration even more accessible.

Q: Are fillings avoidable?

One hundred percent, yes!
The need for fillings will only arise when our regimen of dental hygiene has been inadequate. In addition to daily brushing and regular flossing, maintaining a program of care involving six monthly hygiene visits will help prevent cavities and other more serious dental issues becoming more costly and painful.
